Character education has become an increasingly important concern in contemporary education due to the growing prevalence of moral degradation, ethical misconduct, and declining social responsibility among younger generations. Within the Islamic educational tradition, character formation is fundamentally rooted in the cultivation of noble character (akhlaq al-karimah) and the purification of the heart (tahdzib al-qalb). This study aims to analyse the concept of character education presented in Tahdzibul Qalbi by KH Taufiqul Hakim, with particular attention to its philosophical foundations, educational values, implementation strategies, and relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Employing a qualitative library research design with historical and philosophical approaches, the study analyses Tahdzibul Qalbi as the primary source, complemented by relevant books, journal articles, and scholarly publications on Islamic education and character development. The findings reveal that KH Taufiqul Hakim conceptualizes character education as a holistic process that integrates intellectual, moral, emotional, and spiritual development through the purification of the heart. The educational model emphasizes the cultivation of sincerity (ikhlas), gratitude (syukur), patience (sabr), humility (tawadhu'), compassion (rahmah), honesty, generosity, trust in Allah (tawakkul), and social responsibility through exemplary conduct, habituation, spiritual guidance, and continuous self-reflection. The study further demonstrates that Tahdzibul Qalbi offers a comprehensive framework for strengthening character education in response to contemporary moral challenges by integrating classical Islamic ethical principles with practical educational approaches. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic character education by providing a systematic analysis of KH Taufiqul Hakim's educational philosophy and highlighting its relevance for contemporary Islamic educational institutions.
